This is the second New Forest paintings in a series of 3. The New Forest is home to some of the oldest and most ecologically rich woodlands in Europe. One fascinating aspect is the presence of ancient pollarded trees, especially oaks and beeches, many of which are hundreds of years old. These trees were traditionally cut above the browse line of deer and ponies , encouraging new growth and creating twisted, characterful trunks that now serve as habitats for rare fungi, lichens, and invertebrates.
